Denis McBride The Face of Jesus in Lukes Gospel Part 1
Episode 57
Teacher: Fr Denis Mc Bride
Teaching: The Face of Jesus in Lukes Gospel.
I hope you can see a pattern here in these last podcasts. Fr Emmon spoke of Jesus obsession with " The Kingdom of God " and how Jesus radically redefined his understanding of the purpose and practice of Religion.
Megan McKenna then spoke of Jesus prophetic insistence that the primary worship God requires is the care of the poor, and working to establish and maintain systems of equality justice and peace.
In this talk, Father Dennis shares the tenderness and compassion Jesus protected and promoted. We can see in these three sharings something of the inner life of Jesus and how his beliefs led to radical behaviour shaped by humility and service.
Could it be that Jesus, like us all, woke each day and hoped to have a peaceful happy day? But daily his inner peace was disturbed when he saw inequality and avoidable human suffering and attributed these distrusting feelings to the prompting of Gods Holy Spirit. Perhaps then Jesus could choose to believe that God was calling him personally not to be part of a system that robbed people of their dignity and potential.
Each day he used his personal energy and strength to follow these deep inner feelings to establish with each person he meet a sense of their dignity and worth. He set out to help meet their needs physically emotionally and financially. In being faithful to the deepest calling of his heart he then found the peace and happiness he desired, in knowing he personally was following the will of God in his age and generation.
He invites us all to follow him today and find that peace and happiness deep within our own lives and then to share that peace and fulfilment with others.
